“According to the Indonesian Law, there are two kind of exit permit for expatriate who have finished his/her work in Indonesia, that have differences of the procedure and the required documents.”

Are you an expatriate who have finished your work in Indonesia? And you want to go outside Indonesia, whether to return to your Home Country or another country, then you should consider to submit the exit permit. Before doing that, you have to know the type of exit permit and the procedure to apply according to Indonesian Law.
The first thing that you have to do is, consider which type of exit permit that you want to apply. Based on the Indonesian Law, there are two type of exit permit.

      1. Exit Permit Only (EPO). The definition of EPO, according to Article 16 paragraph (2b) Government Regulation No. 11 / 2013, is the permit for expatriate to leave Indonesia and he or she is not willing to come back to Indonesia (with the same sponsor company).

The procedure to apply for EPO should be started no later than 7 working days of the last day of your work in Indonesia. It is submitted by your sponsor company. The documents that you should prepare for applying EPO are (a) Original passport; (b) Original IMTA (Izin Mempekerjakan Tenaga Asing / the permit to employ the expatriate); (c) Original of Mandatory Skill Development Fund (DPKK) Payment; (d) original KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas / Limited Stay Permit Card) and (d) application form that you can obtain from Immigration Office.

The process for obtaining the EPO is approximately 4 working days after the submission to the Immigration Office.

  • Exit Re-Entry Permit (ERP). Different from EPO’s, the application of ERP can be submitted while the expatriate already leaves Indonesia. The sponsor company can submit the application on behalf of the expatriate. The documents that should be prepared for applying ERP are (a) Original IMTA; (b) Original of DPKK Payment; (c) Original KITAS; (d) Application Form; and (e) Copy of Departure Ticket.
